June Showers

I woke up this morning to two very happy surprises. 1.) My first sale of this “Spring Rain” shower curtain, and 2.) the first yellow blossom on our newly planted rose bush. The timing is fitting in that there is a dark green-grey shower outside my window as I write, and I do love to watch the rain. Well, then, maybe three happy surprises!

Wisteria

It seems that the lazy days of summer are turning crazy, bringing extra busyness to Jack’s and my life, (and I am not complaining), but I doubt I will be blogging every day, even though I would love to.

Every now and then, I think it is good to reevaluate our priorities, routines and direction. It is true that change is the only constant, and I prefer to think of change as positive.

What have I been doing? Well, you might remember my wisteria painting from the Spring. Over the weekend, I enjoyed making some soft and lovely, lavender wisteria products: note cards, iphone cases, laptop covers and skins, and a throw pillow. Take a look:

I’ve also reorganized my online store, created some new sea creatures crab and lobster products, made a few new throw pillows, with some coordinating new “Storm’s Eye” textiles in peach, yellow and light blue.

A Rest Along the Way

I confess to being a big believer in destinations because I am a goal-oriented person. However, I also believe very much in enjoying the journey and the beauty of the moment.

Whether it is time to rest or regroup, this lovely furniture by Brown Jordan is just perfect.

Designed by Michael Berman for Brown Jordan, Papillon is a fluid, contemporary take on woven furnishings. Curvilinear, textural, and cocoon-like in shape, with subtle wing details, Papillon’s simplicity offers deep, comfortable seating with a soft silhouette. In muted, earthy tones, the design blends organically with any exterior or interior style. In envisioning the collection, Berman was inspired by the free spirit and individuality of the papillon (butterfly) – its beauty, grace, life of transformation and quiet harmony with nature.

Remember that outdoor furnishings are specifically designed and made to be outside. They can withstand the sun, weather, extreme temperatures, sea salt air, and are manufactured to resist mold, mildew and fade.

Outside by the Pool

Ahhh, the leisure of summer living. Yesterday we were by the sunny sea and today we lounge by the pool. Meet “Cricket II” from Brown Jordan. This is very attractive, fun, folding furniture, and very aptly named.

Remember that outdoor furnishings are specifically designed and made to be outside. They can withstand the sun, weather, extreme temperatures, sea salt air, and are manufactured to resist mold, mildew and fade.

Established by Robert Brown and Hubert Jordan in Pasadena, California, Brown Jordan was the first company to create furniture for full-time outdoor use. The first of these innovative designs, constructed of tubular aluminum and vinyl lace, was fittingly called “Leisure” and marked the birthplace of outdoor furniture.

On their website is a very cool Custom Design Tool, where you can select your chair, your cushion color, and your finish to see what the finished product will look like.

I’ve been wanting to share these beautiful textiles by Robert Allen with you for quite some time, and now that June has arrived with all of its sunny heated glory, there is no better time than now.
