It has been an exciting week for our Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Texas! Two families purchased and closed on their new homes this week and are moving in as I write this post. As if that weren’t exciting enough, last night was our annual benefit concert by the United States Naval Academy’s own Monte Maxwell, Director of Chapel Music, Chapel Organist and world-renown musician.
Monte traveled all the way from Annapolis, Maryland to Texas to generously offer his time and talents so we can build more homes.
As you probably know, my husband, Jack is our CEO and he says, “These two homes are the 95th and 96th homes we’ve built over the past 23 years”! They are EnergyStar rated. In our county, Jack says, “An estimated 20,000 people could qualify to purchase a home through the Habitat program based on income alone”.
So you can share in the celebrations, I’ve made a collage-style post for you to enjoy!

This is one of our typical Habitat homes to show you what they look like. As soon as I get a great shot of Maria’s and Jacqueline’s homes, I’ll post them.

Thank you to Monte Maxwell for giving Habitat a wonderful benefit concert so we can build more homes. Organ image from http://www.montemaxwell.com
Mr. Monte Maxwell, Director of Chapel Music, and Chapel Organist, received his undergraduate degree at Texas Christian University and his graduate degree from the Juilliard School in New York. He was then invited to study at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia where he earned the Artist Diploma, the conservatory’s most distinguished degree in Organ Performance. Mr. Maxwell’s performing career has taken him to numerous concert halls, churches, and cathedrals, including esteemed venues such as New York’s Lincoln Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Kennedy Center, and St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
This week has been very inspiring and as we get ready for the weekend, I think of Maria and Jacqueline who are unpacking and settling in, Monte is going home, and construction continues with the Saturday crew on our 97th home for Melinda.
Thank you for reading! Jack and I thank you for supporting Habitat. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Patricia
